1. Who are you?
"We" are entrepreneurs, past presidents of non-profits, supplier diversity officials, executive search and university people, male, female, black, white, and Latino (in search of representation from the Pan Asian business community). We pooled our talent into a 501(c)(3) corporation, which is organized to provide informational and educational products and services to foster good governance, independence and diversity on the governing bodies of business entities, and to operate as the premier organization for serving the public good by helping companies find independent AND pre-qualified director candidates for corporate board service. We specialize in prospecting, preparing, pre-qualifying and promoting candidates with a sub-focus on increasing diversity in the boardroom.

2. What does it take to be a board director?
The qualifications are leadership, expertise, business experience, integrity and follow-through, to name a few. A great many minorities and women are already uniquely qualified for board service because they have proven expertise, which won them visibility in the market. You know them. They are the "go-to" people when you want something done. They are experienced in board governance, can analyze sophisticated financial statements, perform as a team player, and have specific knowledge and experience that is in demand.
3. How do I know if I am "board ready"?
| Have you managed a sizeable budget (for profit or non-for-profit), made or saved money for your company or division, innovated systems or processes? Have you created a road map for your journey? That begins with assessing your personal and professional strengths and weaknesses, identifying your business acumen and areas of specific expertise, determining how to remedy any deficiencies, and thinking about the kinds of private and public companies your expertise could benefit. | |
4. Can I apply my not-for-profit board experience in the for-profit arena?
| Absolutely! Today, more than ever, rapidly growing companies are forming not-for-profit foundations, so the interest in board members with non-profit board and leadership experience is very strong. Your valuable non-profit experience applies to the for-profit world in a number of ways the most important of which is governance. Within your association world, don't be satisfied with being a member of a committee: Ask to chair it! Position yourself for future growth by leveraging your knowledge of a specific area and then be seen as a team player within that core group. Stretch yourself beyond your comfort level to gain experience in areas and applications where you can learn new skills. | |
5. Who are our Clients
?
| We have two basic types of clients. Fortune 1000-sized, emerging and rapid growth companies who need assistance with either forming a board of directors, or seeking to fill a seat in their boardroom. And individuals seeking to be appointed to serve on a corporate board. Especially those who immediately qualify for placement, or who are serving on their first corporate board. Additionally, those who are on the corporate fast track in leadership positions, or own their own businesses. Individuals currently leading non-profit boards who wish to apply their skills to the for-profit arena. Those who have never served on a board but have extensive business experience and aspirations for board service. | |
6. How much do your services cost?
| These days, we're all pocket book sensitive, and clarifying costs is natural. Think, though, how the way you pose the question reveals your inner-self worth. For instance, we screen for candidates who will invest in themselves; who seek professional help to position themselves to successfully compete for corporate board service. They know the benefits: a chance to shape corporate policy, as well as annual compensation in the range of $5,000-$60,000. Thus, a fee range of $1,900-3,000 is typical. |
7.Do you specialize in any industry?
| No. Of our last three appointment matches, one was with a global investment firm with $4.2 billion under management; one was a hotel chain and one was a mutual fund. Meanwhile, we can also help our director-candidates hone skills by referring them to our allied organizations. Examples: 1.) We refer candidates to both for/and non-profit, paid Advisory Boards as a way to hone their governance skills. 2.) Candidates who need to increase their market visibility as well as their leadership skills may be referred to such Alliance Partners as Leadership America and Hispanics Impacting Public Policy. 32 companies served w/33 appointment matches. |

8. What is the main difference between attending a Boardroom Bound® Pipeline seminar and receiving Independent coaching?
| Both seminar and coaching are avenues to assist you to successfully compete for a corporate board appointment. Rather like taking two different roads to reach the same destination. The seminar involves facilitating a group of people while coaching is tailored to candidates who prefer individualized attention or who unable to attend a seminar. |
9. Is there a difference in costs?
| Yes. Coaching is accomplished through a number of sessions tailored to your degree of board-readiness, as determined by the Boardroom Bound® assessment tools. The cost may equal or exceed that of a single seminar. |
10. What does a cost comparison look like?
| Seminars, depending on their content, speakers and location range from $1,900 to $3,000 per session and include registration, testing, a handbook and hospitality (and in many instances travel and accommodations). Coaching consists of a minimum of four sessions, ranging from 45 -75 minutes and 2 assessment tools for $950unless additional sessions are required. |
11. What tangible benefits will I receive from coaching?
| This is the most frequently asked question we get. You receive the essential information you need to prepare for a corporate board seat: a personal strategic plan that will enable you to successfully compete for a corporate board seat. You will identify your personal strengths and weaknesses, boost your visibility, understand the CEO/Board Nomination Committee process, begin to focus on a specific industry or company and learn inside tips on what makes a successful board member as well as the executive search firm perspective in seeking board directors.
You will also learn about boardroom culture. Plus we will acquaint you with the subliminal criteria for board members that you can find nowhere else. An old adage says, Those who know KNOW! In this case, those who know refer to the cost as an investment. Corporate board remuneration ranges from $5,000-10,000 for a small or a start-up entity, to $20,000-45,000 (cash, stock, other benefits) for an established mid-cap company. Fortune 500 companies pay considerably more. But the sense of prestige and sense of accomplishment are priceless. Those who know also realize that existing board directors are frequently tapped for other boards. Candidates who want to successfully compete for corporate board appointments must learn more about knowing. This knowledge is a typical example of many of the insider tips we provide in seminars and coaching sessions. |

| Recognize that our programs success is interdependent with yoursand that starts with doing the work required for entry in our National Candidate Database. The database is the resource necessary for Boardroom Bound® to help companies find candidates for corporate board service. What kind of follow-up services do you provide candidates once they complete
your services?
| We feature a series of invitation-only VIP Reception to help our Pipeline Seminar and Coaching clientele add depth to their experience with us while in our pipeline to the corporate boardroom. The Reception series provides an ideal venue to bring candidates together with current directors and others in the boardroom industry. The reception venue helps candidates attain the visibility, access and support that otherwise might take months or years to obtain on their own. Plus, we publish a monthly e-newsletter with industry information and provide post-seminar Momentum Coaching sequence to help candidates deal with any remedial and/or developmental issues. Directors & Boards magazine provides our program with an outlet to feature candidates, which increases their visibility in the industry.
